Koonya Easter camp, 2009 - Fossil Island
|
Strolling along Egg Beach towards the island, we noticed that a water rat Hydromys chrysogaster had been that way too, by its tracks in the sand. GF |
Sydney sea hare, Aplysia sydneyensis, a mollusc about 100mm long. It was moving about in the gulch we crossed to reach the island. GF |
A shell fossil in the gulch that separates the island from the mainland. AT |
Also in the gulch, a very alert and inquisitive Hermit crab, Trigopagurus strigimanus. GF |
Waratah anemone swirling in the water; Actinia tenebrosa. GF |
This Australasian fur seal was quite proprietorial about its rock ledge on the western side of Fossil Island. We decide not to try and pass, but went back the way we had come. MD |
